Fuel Price Update Government clarifies no petrol diesel price hike amid rumours

Amid rumours of rising petrol diesel prices due to tensions in West Asia the government clarified that fuel supplies remain stable and there is no plan to increase prices.

Government clarifies petrol diesel price rumours

Rumours circulating on social media about a sudden increase in petrol diesel prices have caused concern among motorists across the country. The speculation suggested that tensions in West Asia could lead to a fuel shortage and a sharp rise in fuel prices in India.

However the central government has firmly dismissed these claims. Officials said there is no plan to raise petrol diesel prices at the moment and citizens should not panic. The clarification came after a high level review meeting held in New Delhi where fuel reserves prices and overseas safety concerns were discussed.

Officials explained that India currently has sufficient refining capacity to meet domestic fuel demand. The country can refine around 260 million tonnes of crude oil annually which ensures stable supply across the nation. Authorities also urged people not to crowd petrol pumps or store fuel unnecessarily because it could create avoidable inconvenience.

Government pushes expansion of piped natural gas

Alongside addressing fuel price rumours the government is also focusing on expanding the use of piped natural gas across the country. Through a recently issued notification the process for obtaining PNG connections has been simplified.

The aim is to make gas connections available to households more quickly and to create uniform rules across states. Officials said that nearly two hundred fifty thousand new PNG connections have been issued in recent weeks. In addition about two hundred twenty thousand consumers have already shifted from LPG cylinders to piped natural gas systems.

This shift is expected to reduce dependence on cylinder bookings while also lowering costs for households. The government’s long term goal is to provide piped gas access to homes across the country.

Monitoring global situation and maritime safety

The government is also closely monitoring developments in the Gulf region where many Indian sailors are working on cargo ships. Authorities confirmed that around fifty Indian sailors were safely brought back to the country in the past twenty four hours.

At present nearly twenty Indian vessels are operating in Gulf waters with around five hundred forty Indian crew members onboard. Officials said all crew members are safe and communication with them is being maintained regularly.

Trade operations at ports continue normally and cargo movement remains unaffected. Authorities are also keeping a close watch on crude oil supply routes to ensure uninterrupted imports. According to foreign affairs officials Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally monitoring the situation while engaging with international partners to ensure stability in the region and safeguard vital maritime routes such as the Strait of Hormuz.
