Three doctors arrested for reckless bike ride, drinking in public in Bengaluru

 

Bengaluru : Three doctors, including a woman, were arrested by police after a viral video showed them riding a bike recklessly while consuming beer on city roads in BTM Layout.

The incident, which reportedly took place on Sunday night, triggered widespread outrage on social media, prompting police to take suo motu action and register a case against the trio for traffic violations and negligent riding.

According to police, the viral video clip showed three individuals riding on a single bike, clearly violating traffic rules. One of the pillion riders was seen drinking beer while the vehicle was in motion on a busy road.

“The video showed triple riding, drinking in public and reckless driving on a crowded road. Based on this, we registered a case on our own,” a senior police officer said.

Following the circulation of the video, police teams scanned CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the vehicle and identify the individuals involved. “We carefully analysed the footage and tracked the vehicle using its registration number. This helped us identify the bike owner and the riders,” the officer added.

Further investigation revealed that all three accused are orthopedic doctors working in private hospitals in Bengaluru. “All three individuals seen in the video are doctors, including one woman. They were taken into custody and later released on station bail,” the officer confirmed.

Police have charged them with negligent riding, triple riding, not wearing helmets and consuming alcohol in public places. Authorities have reiterated that such behaviour not only violates traffic laws but also endangers public safety.

The incident has once again raised concerns about reckless driving and irresponsible behaviour on Bengaluru roads, especially among educated professionals. ಪೊಲೀಸರು have urged citizens to strictly adhere to traffic rules and avoid such acts that could lead to serious accidents.
