Case filed after alleged gang rape of stray dog in Bellandur

Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, Bellandur Police have registered a case following allegations that a group of unidentified men sexually assaulted a stray dog.

According to police sources, the case was filed under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint by Dithipriya, a resident of an apartment complex in Chikkanayakanahalli.

As per the FIR, Dithipriya was informed by a friend on October 13 that a group of miscreants had allegedly committed a heinous act of gang rape on a stray dog in the locality. The complainant, who regularly feeds a stray dog named Mili, noticed on October 16 that the animal’s private parts were swollen and appeared injured.

She suspected that Mili might be the victim of the assault and approached the Bellandur Police seeking legal action. Police teams initiated an investigation and examined footage from around 25 CCTV cameras in the area to trace any suspects or confirm the incident. The stray dog was located and taken to a veterinary hospital for medical examination.

Officials stated that while no conclusive evidence of sexual assault has been established yet, a vaginal swab sample was collected from the dog and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis. β€œThe exact details of the case will be confirmed after the FSL report,” police sources said.

The alleged incident has sparked outrage among animal rights activists in the city, who have demanded swift action and stronger enforcement of animal protection laws.
