Karnataka SSLC Result 2026: The Karnataka state government has indeed introduced a major change to the SSLC evaluation system, effective from the 2026 board examinations. Karnataka SSLC Result 2026 Big changes: Total marks reduced from 625 to 525.
This move is designed to reduce academic pressure on students by aligning the marking scheme with national standards like the CBSE. The total marks considered for the final result have been reduced from 625 to 525. This is because the Third Language (which is Hindi for most students) has been removed from the aggregate marks calculation.
Total Marks:
Previous System – 625 Marks – Hindi/3rd Language marks Included in Total (100 Marks)
New System (2026 onwards) – 525 – Hindi Marks Excluded from Total (Grades Only)
Even though the marks won’t be added to the grand total, students must still appear for the Hindi (Third Language) exam. It remains a compulsory subject to pass the SSLC. Instead of marks appearing on the final marks card, students will receive a Grade for the third language.
Your final percentage and “Total Marks Obtained” will now be calculated out of 525. This allows students to focus more on the core subjects (Maths, Science, Social Science) and the first two languages. The internal assessment marks (20 marks for most subjects, 25 for First Language) continue to be a part of the evaluation to help improve the overall pass percentage.
What Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa said:
Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa made an official announcement about this in a press conference. This rule will come into effect from the new academic year itself. Now we have a three-language policy. Hindi language score in SSLC will be considered as a grade. Total marks in SSLC will be considered as 525. In the result, Hindi exam marks will be as a grade. Hindi language score will be given in grades.
Passing Criteria:
Despite the reduction in total marks, the core passing rules remain strict:
1. Subject Minimum: Students must secure at least 30% in each individual subject.
2. Aggregate Minimum: Students must secure an overall average of 33% (which is approximately 174 out of 525) to be declared “Pass.”
