Body of youth who died in Ireland brought to native village in Dakshina Kannada

Kadaba (Dakshina Kannada): The mortal remains of a Mangaluru-origin youth who died under suspicious circumstances in Ireland have finally reached his native village after several days of efforts by family members and authorities. The body of Sanjo Sunil was brought to his hometown in Vimalagiri near Kadaba, where relatives and friends paid their last respects amid scenes of grief.
Sanjo Sunil was found dead a few days ago at his residence in the Charlestown area of Finglas in Dublin, the capital of Ireland. The tragic incident had plunged his family and members of the Indian community living in Ireland into deep shock and sorrow.
According to family sources, Sanjo had moved to Ireland on a dependent visa along with his wife Lishma Philip. She has been working as a nurse in Dublin. The couple had been married for only about a year, and the sudden death of the young man has left his family devastated.
Authorities in Ireland have launched an investigation into the incident. The country’s national police force, Garda Síochána, has begun probing the case. Initial reports suggest that the case is being examined under suspicion of suicide, though the exact cause of death will be determined only after the completion of the investigation.
Following the incident, efforts were initiated to bring Sanjo’s body back to India. However, the process involved several legal and diplomatic formalities, which took a few days to complete. During this period, the family remained anxious as they awaited the arrival of the mortal remains.
Sources said that Brijesh Chowta, Member of Parliament representing Dakshina Kannada, coordinated with authorities in Ireland as well as Indian diplomatic officials to facilitate the repatriation process and ensure that the body was brought back at the earliest.
After the completion of all formalities, the mortal remains reached Bengaluru early Saturday morning and were later transported to Vimalagiri near Kadaba in Dakshina Kannada district.
Family members, relatives and residents of the area gathered to pay their final respects as the body was kept for public viewing. Emotional scenes were witnessed as grieving family members broke down while bidding farewell to the young man.
According to family sources, the funeral will be held on Monday at around 3 pm at St Mary Malankara Catholic Church in Vimalagiri.
Sanjo Sunil had travelled abroad with hopes of building a better future, but his untimely death has left his loved ones and friends in deep sorrow. Members of the Indian community in Ireland have also expressed grief over the incident and offered prayers for the departed soul.
