Nelamangala jewellery shop robbery cracked in seven days; five arrested

Nelamangala: In a major breakthrough, Madanayakanahalli police have cracked a sensational armed robbery case that had shocked Bengaluru last week. Within just seven days of the crime, police tracked down and arrested all five accused involved in the daring heist at a jewellery shop.

The arrested have been identified as Anoop Singh, Ravi, Ankit, Arun and Anoop Ram. All the accused are natives of Rajasthan. After committing the robbery, the gang had fled to their home state, but a special police team traced them and arrested them from different locations in Rajasthan.

The robbery had taken place last week at Ram Dev Jewellers in Dasapura, under the limits of Madanayakanahalli police station. The criminals had stormed into the shop brandishing a pistol, threatened the staff and customers, and fled with around 30 grams of gold ornaments.

The incident had created panic in the area and raised serious concerns about public safety. Police officials immediately launched an intensive investigation and formed multiple teams to track down the culprits.

CCTV footage from the shop and nearby locations played a crucial role in identifying the accused. Technical surveillance and human intelligence inputs eventually helped the police zero in on the gang.

Investigations revealed that the robbery was meticulously planned. One of the accused, Ankit, had been living in Madanayakanahalli and was earning a living by selling kachoris. Frustrated with his financial condition, he allegedly decided to commit a robbery to make quick money.

He contacted his associate Ravi, who was staying in Rajasthan and had access to a pistol. Using the weapon as leverage, the gang hatched a plan to target a jewellery shop. As per their plan, on January 27, they entered Ram Dev Jewellers in Nelamangala, threatened the staff at gunpoint and looted gold ornaments before escaping from the spot.

The entire act was captured on CCTV cameras, which later became key evidence for the investigation. Soon after the incident, senior police officials visited the crime scene and initiated a detailed probe.

Acting on credible information, Madanayakanahalli police teams travelled to Rajasthan and conducted coordinated raids, leading to the arrest of all five accused. Police have also recovered part of the stolen gold and the weapon used in the crime.

The accused have now been brought to Bengaluru and taken into police custody for further interrogation. Officials are trying to find out whether the gang was involved in similar crimes elsewhere.

Local residents have appreciated the swift action of the police in solving the case within a short span of time. The successful operation has come as a major relief to traders and shop owners in the area.

With the arrests, police have assured that strict action will be taken against the offenders and efforts will continue to prevent such crimes in the future.
