Grand welcome for USA cricket team in India ahead of T20 World Cup 2026

Bengaluru: The countdown for the T20 World Cup 2026 has officially begun. The global cricket tournament will be held from February 7 to March 8, 2026, with 20 teams participating. This edition of the World Cup is being jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, and teams have already started arriving in the host nations.

The United States cricket team is among the first teams to reach India. The team received a warm and traditional welcome on arrival. A video showing the players being greeted according to Indian cultural traditions has gone viral on social media and is being widely shared.

In the viral video, members of the USA cricket team were welcomed by applying tilak on their foreheads, which is a traditional Indian way of greeting guests. The USA team includes three players of Pakistani origin – Shayan Jahangir, Ali Khan and Mohammad Mohsin. They were also welcomed in the same traditional manner, which attracted special attention from cricket fans.

This will be the second appearance of the USA team in the T20 World Cup. In their debut tournament last year, the American team performed brilliantly and reached the Super 8 stage, creating history. The team will be looking to repeat that success in the upcoming tournament as well.

The USA team will once again be led by captain Monank Patel. In the 2026 tournament, the USA has been placed in Group A along with India, Pakistan, Netherlands and Namibia. The group is considered highly competitive and exciting.
