Love Jihad and Forced Conversion Allegations at KGMU: Senior Doctor Suspended and Case Registered
Lucknow: A shocking case of “Love Jihad” and forced religious conversion has come to light at the King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Uttar Pradesh.
Following allegations that a senior doctor pressured a Hindu female colleague to convert to Islam, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government has intervened and suspended the accused doctor, Dr. Rameezuddin Malik, from service.
Dr. Malik was allegedly in a romantic relationship with a Hindu female doctor at KGMU. According to reports, after concealing the fact that he was already married, Dr. Malik coerced the woman into converting to Islam in exchange for marriage.
When the female doctor discovered that he had concealed his first marriage and was also involved in forced religious conversion, she lodged a formal complaint with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office and the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission.
Case Details:
The university’s spokesperson, Dr. K.K. Singh, provided details to media , confirming that Dr. Malik was indeed in a relationship with the female doctor. He had reportedly insisted that she convert to Islam if they were to get married.
The woman, upon discovering that Malik was already married to a Hindu woman, became suspicious and distanced herself from him. However, Malik allegedly continued to pressurize her to convert, leading to significant emotional distress.
Dr. Malik’s first wife was also reportedly a Hindu, and it is alleged that he had forced her to convert to Islam as well. When the female doctor learned about this, she realized that she was being manipulated and subjected to coercion. She reported her ordeal to both Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Women’s Commission.
Government Action:
In response to the serious nature of the allegations, the Yogi government immediately suspended Dr. Malik from his position at KGMU. A formal case has been registered against him for forced conversion and involvement in “Love Jihad.”
Furthermore, the government has formed a committee to investigate the matter thoroughly, and appropriate action will be taken after the investigation is complete.
The female doctor also met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally to discuss the matter. Meanwhile, the Vice Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission, Aparna Yadav, condemned the incident and assured that strict action would be taken.
Allegations have also surfaced that Dr. Malik was involved in similar activities with junior doctors at the university. This has led to further concerns about a possible pattern of exploitation and manipulation within the institution.
In a disturbing development, it has also been revealed that a junior doctor, reportedly one of Malik’s alleged victims, attempted suicide due to the immense pressure and harassment. This has raised serious questions about the systemic issues within KGMU and the need for stricter oversight to protect vulnerable staff members from such abuses.
Broader Impact:
The incident has sparked outrage across the state, with many demanding stronger measures to ensure the safety and well-being of women in educational and professional settings.
The state government, alongside the Women’s Commission, has pledged to monitor the investigation closely and ensure that justice is served. This case has drawn attention to the wider issue of forced conversions and “Love Jihad,” particularly in educational institutions, leading to increased calls for stricter laws to prevent such practices.
