Bengaluru: Rumours of Kannada actor Darshan being involved in a brawl inside Parappana Agrahara Central Prison have surfaced, even as jail authorities firmly denied any such incident. Darshan is lodged in judicial custody as the second accused in the Renukaswamy murder case.
The actor, his partner Pavithra Gowda and five others were arrested on August 14 after the Supreme Court cancelled the Karnataka High Court order granting him bail. Since then, Darshan has been housed in the same barrack as his manager R. Nagaraj, driver Lakshman, businessman Pradosh Rao, and autorickshaw drivers Anukumar alias Anu and Jagadish alias Jagga from Chitradurga.
Reports claimed that Darshan had quarrelled with some of the other inmates in the barrack, though jail officials rejected this version. According to sources, only Nagaraj shares a cordial relationship with him, while tensions have allegedly risen with the remaining inmates.
“Kicking inmates awake” claim circulates
Rumours suggest the actor has been waking up early in recent days ahead of the release of his film Devil on December 11. It is alleged he has been kicking fellow inmates to wake them and using abusive language, leading to resentment within the barrack.
Sources claimed a major argument broke out two days ago between Darshan and Jagadish. As the confrontation escalated, prison staff and other inmates reportedly intervened and separated them. Following the incident, Anukumar and Jagadish are said to have requested jail authorities to either shift them to another barrack or transfer them back to Chitradurga prison.
However, the jail administration has maintained that no such fight took place and that all inmates are being monitored as per procedure.
Darshan, one of the most prominent names in the Kannada film industry, continues to remain in judicial custody as the investigation in the Renukaswamy murder case progresses.
