Jammu police raid Kashmir Times office, seize ammunition in anti-national activities probe

Jammu: A team of Jammu & Kashmir Police on Thursday conducted a raid at the office premises of Kashmir Times in Jammu in connection with a case alleging encouragement of anti-national activities.

During the search, officials recovered AK-series rifle cartridges, live rounds, hand-grenade pins and several other incriminating items, according to officials. The search operation was carried out by the State Investigation Agency (SIA) after a formal case was registered against the publication and its promoters.

Authorities said the seized materials will be subjected to forensic examination, and further action will follow based on the findings. Officials added that the publisher and key promoters of the newspaper may be questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.

Reacting to the raid, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Singh Chaudhary said action should be taken only if wrongdoing is proven. β€œIf they have committed any wrongdoing, action must follow. But if it has been done under pressure or without proper basis, then that is wrong,” Chaudhary told reporters.

He emphasised that legal procedures must be followed and investigations must be fair and justified.
