Rave Party: In a major crackdown on illegal rave parties, Kaggalipura police raided two homestays β Adwi Villa Stay and Ayaan Retreat Homestay β located at Devagere in Kengeri hobli of Bengaluru South taluk on Friday midnight. The police have booked 90 people and arrested two, including the homestay owner Suhas and party organiser Shahid.
According to officials, the party was attended by around 90 youngsters aged between 19 and 23, many of them college students from Bengaluru. Police suspect that ganja and other banned narcotics were consumed during the event. All attendees were subjected to medical tests at Ramanagara District Hospital, and their blood samples have been collected for toxicology analysis.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the participants were invited through a WhatsApp group named βGen Zβ created specifically to promote the party. The illegal gathering involved alcohol consumption, drug use, loud music, and obscene dancing, police sources said.
βWe had received complaints from locals that rave parties were being held at the homestay, disturbing the neighbourhood. Based on this, our team led by the Kaggalipura Inspector conducted a raid. Among the attendees, three minors were also found,β said Ramanagara SP R. Srinivasa Gowda.
Police seized ganja packets, syringes used for drug injection, and other narcotic paraphernalia from the spot. βAll the materials have been confiscated, and cases have been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against 90 persons. Two prime accused β the organiser and homestay owner β have been taken into custody, while notices have been issued to others to appear for investigation,β the SP added.
Authorities are now investigating whether such rave parties were being conducted regularly at the location and if a larger drug network is involved.
