Puttur Youth Found Dead After Staying 8 Days in Bengaluru Lodge With Girlfriend; Mystery Deepens

Bengaluru,   A 20-year-old youth from Puttur, identified as Thakshith, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a lodge in the Madiwala area of Bengaluru. Police said he had checked into the Grand Choice Lodge with his girlfriend, Rakshitha from Virajpet, on October 9, and had been staying there for eight days before his body was discovered in the room Friday night.

According to investigators, the couple had been living together in the room, ordering food online every day. On the evening before the incident, they reportedly ordered dinner through a food delivery app and both experienced symptoms of food poisoning. After purchasing medication from a nearby pharmacy, Rakshitha’s condition apparently improved, and she checked out of the lodge and returned to her hometown. Thakshith, however, stayed back and was later found dead.

Lodge staff informed police after they received no response from the room when they knocked repeatedly. Using a master key, they opened the room only to find Thakshith lying motionless. Police registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) and have begun a detailed investigation into the cause of death.

The lodge caretaker, Abdul, said, “The couple had checked in on October 9, saying they were in Bengaluru for college work. They regularly made payments and ordered food from outside. But last night, the boy was found dead in the room.”

Police sources say preliminary evidence suggests possible cardiac arrest or complications from food poisoning. However, investigators are probing whether foul play was involved, as the timing of the girlfriend’s departure raises suspicion. CCTV footage from the lodge has been seized, and forensic tests are being conducted on the food samples.

The Madiwala police are investigating all possible angles — including accidental poisoning, mental distress, or deliberate foul play — to determine the exact cause of Thakshith’s death.
