  Bengaluru  : Former Prime Minister and senior JD(S) leader H.D. Deve Gowda has shown signs of recovery after being admitted to the hospital with chills and a urinary tract infection. He was discharged today (October 13) from Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru, and has returned home to Padmanabhanagar, where he was seen reading a book soon after arrival. At the age of 94, his dedication to reading despite health challenges has gone viral on social media, with netizens lauding his resilience.

After returning home, Deve Gowda resumed reading devotional books, including prayers to Lord Anjaneya and other deities. Known for his daily habit of reading religious texts, the former Prime Minister had been unable to continue this routine during his hospital stay. “After spending a few days in the hospital, I am back home, and by God’s grace my health has stabilized. I am grateful to the doctors at Manipal Hospital for their treatment. I thank everyone who prayed for my recovery and all friends and leaders who visited me. I will soon resume my public duties,” Deve Gowda shared on Twitter, along with a photograph of him reading at home.
