Bagalkot — Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed the Chief Secretary to examine the measures taken by Tamil Nadu against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activities and consider similar action in the state. Speaking to media in Bandigani, Siddaramaiah responded to Minister Priyank Kharge’s letter seeking a ban on RSS programs in government spaces.
“Priyank Kharge has written to restrict RSS activities in public places. I have asked the Chief Secretary to review the situation and take appropriate steps,” Siddaramaiah said, adding that the government will act based on legal and administrative precedents.
The Chief Minister’s remarks come amid growing political debate over RSS’s presence in public institutions. Kharge’s letter has sparked reactions from BJP leaders, who have accused the Congress of targeting nationalist organizations for political gain.
Siddaramaiah also addressed speculation surrounding a dinner party scheduled for the evening, clarifying that it has no connection to cabinet reshuffling. “I host dinners occasionally. There’s nothing special about this one. It’s only the media and BJP who think it’s something extraordinary,” he said with a smile.
On the health of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, Siddaramaiah assured that he is recovering well. “I spoke to Dr. Satyanarayana. Deve Gowda will be fine in two to three days,” he informed.
The Chief Minister’s comments reflect the government’s cautious approach to sensitive ideological issues while maintaining transparency on political developments. As discussions around RSS activities and administrative decisions continue, Siddaramaiah emphasized that any action will be taken after thorough review and in accordance with constitutional values.
