Heavy rainfall in four days from today in Karnataka: Alert to 14 districts

Heavy rainfall: Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka are likely to witness rainfall as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka, and the south interior part of the state till May 15. Heavy rainfall in four days from today in Karnataka: Alert to 14 districts.

Thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and heavy rainfall are expected across the region, with gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 km/h and potentially surging up to 50 km/h, the IMD said Monday. The rain, which has been a break for the past week, is about to shout from today.

High Alert has been announced in more than 14 districts of the state in the next 3-4 days. Heavy rains are likely to be caused by the state’s northern inland and southern inland districts.

Tumkur, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Kolar, Mysore, Mandya, Kodagu, Hassan, Chikkaballapur, Chamarajanagar, Haveri, Belgaum, Dharwad and Gadag districts are likely to be heavy. Normal rainfall is expected in coastal districts like Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada.

It is said that rains are expected in districts including Belgaum, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, Koppal and Raichur in North Karnataka. Thunderstorms are expected in coastal Karnataka and northern inland districts of Bagalkot, Belgaum, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura and Yadagiri, the Met Department said.
