Lok Sabha Election 2024: Karnataka BJP Candidate Final List
In the first list of 195 candidates from 16 states and Union Territories on March 2, no name was declared by the state. JDS second in-charge HD Kumaraswamy had already visited the BJP high command in the national capital after joining the NDA recently.

The BJP’s alliance with the Janata Dal (Secular) is a major challenge for the parties that lost the assembly elections in the state last year. The BJP is reportedly working hard to field candidates from Karnataka as the BJP-JDS alliance aims to win at least 25 seats from the southern state.

The media reported that he is likely to contest from the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency in the upcoming general elections. Karnataka’s Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambarish recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that they will work together and indicated that she will not back down from contesting from Mandya.
Karnataka Chief Minister Vijayendra Yeddyurappa on Saturday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will achieve a ‘record’ victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Vijayendra said, “We are confident that BJP will win all 28 seats (in the Lok Sabha) with our partner JDS in Karnataka. BJP will write a new record in the political history of Karnataka. We are going to sweep the next Lok Sabha elections here. Meanwhile, the Karnataka BJP chief added, “I don’t want to comment on the Congress candidate.”

Another point to be noted is that Congress has nominated DK Suresh for Bengaluru rural constituency and Geeta Sivarajakumar, wife of Kannada actor Sivarajakumar for Shivamogga constituency in the initial list of seven candidates in Karnataka for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) met on Wednesday to finalize candidates for the 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka. Earlier, on March 2, the BJP had released the initial list of 195 candidates from 16 states and Union Territories. The BJP-JD(S) alliance is yet to announce its list of candidates.
In the 2019 general elections, the BJP dominated, winning 25 of the state’s 28 seats, which was also won by an independent candidate supported by the party. In contrast, Congress and JD(S) managed to win only one seat each in the coalition government at that time.

However, the political landscape has changed significantly since then. After a decisive victory in the assembly elections last May, the Congress is all set for a strong performance in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Additionally, there is a role reversal for the JD(S), which joined the BJP-led NDA in September last year and aims to demonstrate its continued influence, especially in south Karnataka.
