The BJP on Saturday released its first list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls, naming 34 Union ministers, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will contest for a third term from Varanasi. The first list with candidates from 16 states and union territories includes big leaders like Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh from their current seats of Gandhinagar and Lucknow respectively.
BS Yeddyurappa will leave for New Delhi on Wednesday. According to report, In the list candidates from Karnataka are likely to appear in the next Lok Sabha Election 2024.
“Tomorrow, there is a meeting in Delhi. I’m going there. Perhaps a second list of Lok Sabha candidates that includes Karnataka will (also) be finalised. In this background I am going to Delhi. I believe the list will be finalized after tomorrow. “The national leaders will take the final decision on the list,” he said.

Responding to a question on whether there are names of candidates for all the 28 constituencies of Karnataka in the second list, Yeddyurappa said, “Maybe there will be no delay. All constituencies can be announced. About the possibilities of new faces in Karnataka, I have no idea what the national leaders of the party have in mind, he said. The final decision will be taken by the leaders in Delhi, he said.
The party top brass did not say how many seats would be allotted to the NDA’s partner JD(S) in the state but said a tie-up would be made with the outfit led by former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. In the first list, BJP has fielded two former Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Biplab Kumar Deb. However, in Delhi, four sitting MPs including Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi, former Union Minister Harsh Vardhan and Ramesh Bidhuri have been dropped.
