Lava Virat Power Listing Hints at New Budget Smartphone

Lava appears to be preparing another smartphone for the Indian market, with the Lava Virat Power reportedly appearing in the IMEI database. The listing suggests that the company could be testing the device internally before an official launch.

The smartphone has not yet been officially confirmed by Lava, so several details remain unknown. The certification listing also does not reveal the complete specifications, leaving the processor, display, camera hardware and charging details to speculation for now.

One of the more interesting details surrounding the device is its branding. Lava Virat Power could become the companys first smartphone to carry the Power branding. The name itself suggests that battery capacity may be one of the main areas of focus when the handset eventually arrives.

The phone is also expected to target the budget segment. Reports indicate that the Lava Virat Power could be a 4G smartphone, although this detail has not been officially confirmed by the company.

The appearance in the IMEI database is nevertheless an indication that the device may be progressing through internal development and testing. Smartphones often appear in certification or regulatory databases before manufacturers announce them publicly.

Lava has recently been expanding its smartphone portfolio with new models. The company launched the Lava Virat Curve 5G earlier this week, bringing a more premium design and specifications to its lineup.

The Virat Curve 5G features a 6.67 inch 3D curved AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 by 1080 pixels. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach a peak brightness of 1100 nits.

Another unusual feature of the Virat Curve 5G is a small secondary display placed inside the rear camera module. The screen can show information such as battery status, volume level, time and notifications. Users can also display emojis and custom text on the small rear panel.

For performance, the Virat Curve 5G uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chipset and runs Android 16 out of the box. The phone also comes with a 50 megapixel Sony IMX752 primary rear camera with electronic image stabilisation support, along with a secondary camera.

The front camera has a 13 megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls. The handset can also record video at 2K resolution at 30 frames per second.

Battery life is another area where Lava has given considerable attention to the Virat Curve 5G. The phone carries a 6000mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. Lava says the battery can be fully charged in around 92 minutes under its specified conditions.

The company has also promised two years of operating system upgrades and three years of security updates for the Virat Curve 5G. It remains unclear whether the upcoming Virat Power will receive a similar software support policy.

For the Virat Power, battery capacity could become the main selling point if Lava follows the direction suggested by its Power branding. A larger battery could make the device appealing to users who want longer usage without frequently reaching for a charger.

However, buyers will have to wait for official information before drawing conclusions about the phone. The IMEI listing does not provide enough information to confirm its display, chipset, camera specifications, charging technology or battery size.

The expected 4G connectivity could also indicate that Lava is targeting customers who prioritise affordability and battery life over newer network hardware. If priced competitively, the smartphone could strengthen the companys presence in the budget segment.
