Nubia Magnetic Phone Cooler Neo Brings Ice Cream Inspired Design

Smartphones can become noticeably warm during gaming, fast charging and extended outdoor use. Nubia has introduced a small accessory aimed at tackling that problem, and it comes with a design that is quite different from conventional phone coolers.

The new product is called the Nubia Magnetic Phone Cooler Neo. The company is promoting it as an ice cream cooler because of its soft off white body and colourful design elements. Along with its appearance, the accessory is built around active cooling hardware designed for demanding smartphone use.

The cooler is currently available in China, where sales are scheduled to begin on September 10 through JD.com. Its regular price is 159 yuan, which is around 2200 rupees. Nubia is offering it initially for 99 yuan, or approximately 1400 rupees.

Despite its small size, the cooler has substantial cooling hardware inside. It measures 25mm in thickness and weighs about 90 grams, allowing it to be attached to the rear of a smartphone without adding too much weight.

The cooling system uses a 36mm by 36mm thermoelectric cooling plate. It is combined with a cold forged aluminium heatsink and an aluminium heat spreading plate. The setup is rated at 25W and is designed to move heat away from the phone during demanding tasks.

Nubia claims that the cooling hardware can reach temperatures as low as minus 18 degrees Celsius. The company also says it can reduce device temperatures by as much as 60 degrees during activities such as gaming, fast charging and outdoor use.

The cooling system is supported by a seven blade fan capable of reaching speeds of up to 6000 revolutions per minute. Airflow has been arranged to direct hot air away from the sides where possible. This is intended to make the accessory more comfortable when the phone is held horizontally during gaming.

Noise has also been considered in the design. Nubia says the fan operates at around 33 decibels at its lowest setting, allowing the cooler to run with relatively little noise while the phone is being used.

Users do not need a dedicated application to control the accessory. Physical buttons on the side allow them to switch between four cooling modes. These include Silent, Powerful, Overclocking and Temperature Control modes.

The Temperature Control mode is supported by an internal chip that can manage the cooling process automatically. This means users can let the device adjust its operation according to temperature instead of constantly changing the settings themselves.

Another eye catching feature is the circular RGB light placed on the rear. The same physical controls can be used to change basic lighting effects or switch the lighting off completely. The feature gives the otherwise functional accessory a more gaming focused appearance.

Nubia has also designed the cooler to work with phones that do not have built in magnets. The accessory uses a magnetic ring for attachment, while a set of clamp attachments is included for compatible devices without magnetic support.

There is another useful mounting option for people who record videos or livestream. The cooler has a standard 1/4 inch screw thread on its case, allowing it to be attached directly to a tripod or compatible livestreaming rig.

The overall design appears aimed at smartphone users who regularly push their devices during gaming or other demanding activities. Instead of relying only on a conventional clip design, Nubia has combined active cooling hardware with magnetic attachment, physical controls and decorative lighting.

The product also shows how phone accessories are becoming more specialised as smartphones are increasingly used for gaming, video recording and other intensive tasks. Heat can affect performance during extended use, making external cooling accessories useful for some users.

For now, Nubia has announced the Magnetic Phone Cooler Neo for the Chinese market. There is no confirmed information about its launch date or pricing in India. The initial discounted price gives buyers in China a relatively affordable way to try the new cooling accessory when sales begin.
