Speaking to the media in Shivamogga, Eshwarappa said the BJP leadership had treated his family unfairly by denying his son a ticket in the Lok Sabha elections. He added that he still feels deeply hurt by the party’s decision.
Eshwarappa pointed out that tickets were given to BY Vijayendra and BY Raghavendra, the sons of former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, as well as to the son of another former Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai. However, his son was denied the opportunity, which he described as an act of betrayal and injustice.
Clarifying his future political plans, Eshwarappa stated that it is 100% certain that either he or his son will contest from the Shivamogga City Assembly constituency in the 2028 Assembly elections.
Commenting on the current situation within the BJP, he said several party leaders continue to remain in touch with him. He also claimed that the BJP is facing several serious internal challenges and warned that, under the present circumstances, the party may struggle to win a significant number of seats if elections were held now.
According to Eshwarappa, the BJP needs stronger organisational rebuilding before the next election. He added that he is now waiting to see what decision the party’s central leadership will take regarding these issues.
