HONOR May Bring a Massive 12000mAh Battery Smartphone

HONOR is reportedly testing a smartphone with a battery capacity close to 12000mAh, potentially offering unusually long endurance for gaming, streaming, navigation and 5G use.

HONOR appears to be pushing smartphone battery technology into a new territory. The company is reportedly testing a handset with a battery capacity close to 12000mAh, although there is still no official confirmation about the phone itself.

Recent reports suggest that the battery being tested has a reported capacity of 11,790mAh and an energy capacity of 43.86Wh. The battery has reportedly progressed to the trial production stage, which indicates that the project may have moved beyond early development. However, the name of the smartphone that could use it remains unknown.

The company has already shown its interest in large battery phones with the HONOR Power2. Launched in January 2026, the handset features a 10080mAh battery, with a rated capacity of 9886mAh. Despite the large battery, the phone measures around 7.98mm thick and weighs approximately 216 grams.

HONOR has used its fourth generation Qinghai Lake Battery technology in the Power2. The company says the battery uses a higher proportion of silicon material and achieves an energy density of 926Wh/L. Such developments could help manufacturers fit larger batteries into smartphones without making them excessively bulky.

A 12000mAh battery could be particularly useful for people who spend long hours gaming, watching videos, using navigation or staying connected to 5G networks. It could also appeal to travellers and users who do not want to carry a power bank throughout the day.

Still, a larger battery does not automatically mean several days of usage. Battery life depends on several factors, including the processor, display, network strength, software optimisation and how heavily the phone is used.

There have also been earlier reports suggesting that HONOR could be exploring an even larger 14000mAh battery smartphone. That device has not been officially confirmed either, so its specifications and launch plans should be treated as unverified for now.

For the reported 12000mAh phone, important details are still missing. HONOR has not revealed its name, processor, cameras, display, price or launch date. Until the company makes an official announcement, the reported battery capacity should be viewed as development information rather than a confirmed product specification.
