OPPO Rolls Out ColorOS 16 July Update With New Camera Features and Enhanced Face Unlock

OPPO has officially begun rolling out the July update for ColorOS 16, bringing a range of new features aimed at improving personalization, photography, security, and overall system performance. The latest software update is being released in phases, and eligible users will receive it through an over the air update over the coming days.

One of the biggest highlights of the update is the improved fingerprint unlock experience. Users can now personalize the fingerprint unlock screen by choosing different animation effects and icon styles. This allows smartphone owners to create a unique unlocking experience that better matches their preferences.

Photography enthusiasts will also notice meaningful improvements in the Camera application. OPPO has introduced two fresh camera filters called Primrose and Bold B and W. The Primrose filter is designed to give portrait shots a refined and vibrant appearance, while the Bold B and W filter provides a stylish monochrome effect for users who enjoy black and white photography. Both filters are available directly inside the Camera app, making them easy to access while capturing photos.

Face Unlock has also received a significant upgrade. The new Backup Face Profile feature allows users to register an additional facial profile for more reliable unlocking. This can be especially useful for people who frequently wear glasses or whose appearance changes throughout the day. The feature is available through the Security and Privacy settings, making device access more convenient without compromising ease of use.

Another useful addition is the Contact Poster Preview feature. Before assigning a contact poster, users can now preview how it will appear and make changes if required. This helps create a more polished and personalized calling experience while avoiding unnecessary edits later.

Beyond the visual additions, OPPO says the update also delivers smoother multitasking with improved system animations and better overall responsiveness. The company has focused on making everyday interactions feel faster and more fluid while also including performance refinements across the operating system.

The ColorOS 16 July update is being released for several flagship and premium smartphones. Eligible devices include the OPPO Find X9 Ultra, Find X9s, Find X9 Pro, Find X9, Reno15 Pro 5G, Reno15 5G, Reno14 Pro 5G, and Reno14 5G. Users with these models can manually check for the update by opening Settings and navigating to the Software Update section. Since the rollout is happening in stages, it may take some time before it becomes available for every supported device.
