A shocking murder case from Haryana has led to the arrest of a man and his alleged girlfriend after police accused them of killing the man’s newly married wife. Investigators say the woman was taken to the girlfriend’s rented house in Gurugram, where she was allegedly shot dead before the accused fled the area.
According to police, the accused, identified as 25 year old Ankit, lived in Manesar and operated a tobacco shop. He had reportedly been in a relationship for the past three years with 38 year old Rajni Devi, who worked at a beauty parlour in the same locality.
Despite the ongoing relationship, Ankit married a 22 year old woman from Manesar in February this year. Just three months after the wedding, the young woman went missing. On May 21, her mother approached the police after being unable to contact her daughter and expressed suspicion against Ankit and his family, prompting officers to register a missing person case.
During the investigation, police discovered the woman’s body on May 22 inside the rented house where Rajni Devi was staying. Investigators allege that Ankit brought his wife to the location, where the two accused conspired to kill her using a pistol.
Police said the accused fled after the crime, first travelling to Haridwar and later crossing into Nepal. They reportedly returned on June 30, after which police tracked them down and arrested both suspects.
According to investigating officers, the murder was allegedly planned in advance at Rajni Devi’s rented residence. Police believe the firearm used in the crime was purchased in Uttar Pradesh and are continuing efforts to recover the weapon and gather additional evidence.
Both accused were produced before a court and have been remanded to police custody for further questioning. Investigators said the probe is ongoing and more evidence is being collected to establish the full sequence of events.
