The India Meteorological Department has issued a fresh weather advisory for Karnataka, warning of widespread rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds across several parts of the state between June 27 and July 2. The forecast covers coastal, interior and Malnad regions, with authorities advising people to stay updated on local weather conditions.
Bengaluru and many districts in South Interior Karnataka are expected to experience intermittent rain accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour. Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mysuru, Mandya, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru, Chamarajanagar, Chitradurga, Ballari and Vijayanagara are among the districts likely to be affected during the forecast period.
The heaviest rainfall is expected along the Karnataka coast. Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts are likely to witness widespread heavy showers for several consecutive days. Strong winds and rough weather conditions have also been forecast, prompting fishermen and residents in coastal areas to remain cautious.
North Interior Karnataka is also expected to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Districts including Belagavi, Bagalkote, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura and Yadgir are likely to experience gusty winds and scattered rainfall, especially during the initial phase of the forecast.
The Malnad region is likely to receive another spell of heavy rain towards the end of the forecast period. Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Kodagu may witness intense rainfall from June 30 to July 2, increasing the possibility of waterlogging in low lying areas and travel disruptions in hilly regions.
Weather officials said most other districts are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall over the coming week, bringing a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures and cooler conditions across the state.
Authorities have advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms. Motorists, farmers and weekend travellers have also been urged to monitor the latest weather updates, carry rain gear and take necessary precautions before heading outdoors as changing weather conditions could affect road safety.
