The Narendra Modi led NDA government is reportedly preparing for a Cabinet reshuffle, with political discussions intensifying over possible changes in key ministries and the induction of fresh faces into the Union Council of Ministers. While there has been no official confirmation, sources indicate that the exercise could take place in the coming days.
Reports suggest that Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently met President Droupadi Murmu and is believed to have sought time for the proposed Cabinet expansion or reshuffle. Political circles are speculating that the exercise could be carried out as early as Sunday or Monday.
Among the names being discussed, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is reportedly expected to receive a different portfolio. According to the speculation, she could be assigned the Human Resource Development Ministry. There are also reports that the current ministerial positions of Dharmendra Pradhan and Hardeep Singh Puri may undergo changes, though no official announcement has been made.
Former Reserve Bank of India Governor and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Shaktikanta Das is also being mentioned as a possible entrant into the Union Cabinet. His administrative experience has led to speculation that he could be entrusted with a ministerial responsibility.
Political observers also believe that the reshuffle may accommodate leaders who recently joined the NDA from other political parties. Several names are circulating in political discussions, including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, former Union Minister Anurag Thakur, Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, Sanjay Dina Patil, Raghav Chadha and Ashok Mittal. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding any of these leaders.
The reported Cabinet reshuffle is expected to focus on strengthening governance and balancing political representation ahead of future electoral challenges. Until an official announcement is made by the government, all proposed appointments and portfolio changes remain speculative.
