Fuel Station Under Scanner After Customer Questions Petrol Filling Bill

A car owner raised concerns after receiving a bill for more fuel than his vehicle's tank capacity, prompting authorities to investigate possible irregularities at a petrol station.

A petrol station in Kanpur has come under official scrutiny after a customer alleged that he was billed for more petrol than his vehicle could physically hold. The complaint has triggered an inspection by local authorities.

The issue surfaced when Charan Singh, who recently purchased a new car, visited a fuel station to fill up his vehicle. According to him, the fuel gauge indicated that approximately five litres of petrol were still present in the tank before refuelling began.

His vehicle’s fuel tank has a maximum capacity of 45 litres. However, after the refuelling process was completed, the bill reportedly showed that more than 52 litres of petrol had been dispensed into the car.

Surprised by the figures, Singh immediately questioned the station staff. He alleged that the meter initially recorded around 41 litres of fuel before being manipulated to display an additional quantity, resulting in an inflated bill.

To support his claim, Singh contacted a representative from the vehicle manufacturer. The company official reportedly visited the location and confirmed that the tank could not accommodate more than its specified capacity of 45 litres.

Following the verification, Singh submitted a formal complaint to authorities. The case has prompted officials to examine the fuel dispensing equipment and investigate whether unauthorized devices or tampered systems were used at the station.

Authorities have stated that inspections are underway, and further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
