Lava Shark 2 5G Set for India Launch With Smooth Display and Long Battery Backup

Lava has confirmed the upcoming launch of Shark 2 5G in India with a large 120Hz display powerful battery backup and durable design aimed at budget conscious smartphone users.

Indian smartphone brand Lava International is preparing to expand its budget 5G lineup with the upcoming launch of the Lava Shark 2 5G. The company has officially confirmed that the smartphone will arrive in India soon, targeting users who want modern 5G connectivity, a smooth display experience and dependable battery life without spending heavily.

The new device is expected to enter the competitive sub fifteen thousand rupees category, a segment where brands are focusing heavily on performance and long lasting batteries. Lava says the Shark 2 5G has been designed especially for users shifting from feature phones or older 4G devices to affordable 5G smartphones.

One of the major highlights of the upcoming phone is its large 6.75 inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. According to the company, the higher refresh rate will deliver smoother scrolling, improved gaming visuals and a more fluid viewing experience while watching videos or browsing apps. Large display phones are becoming increasingly popular among young users who consume entertainment on mobile devices for long hours.

Battery performance is another area where Lava appears to be placing strong focus. The company claims the smartphone will offer all day backup on a single charge. Early details suggest the battery can support around 815 minutes of YouTube playback along with nearly 743 minutes of screen on time. While the exact battery capacity has not been officially revealed yet, Lava is promoting the device as a long lasting companion for daily use.

The smartphone will also come with IP64 rated dust and water resistance, adding extra durability for users dealing with outdoor conditions, accidental splashes or dusty environments. This feature is still relatively uncommon in many entry level 5G smartphones, making it a notable addition in the budget category.

Performance details have also created interest ahead of the launch. Lava revealed that the phone will feature a chipset capable of scoring more than five lakh points on the AnTuTu v11 benchmark platform. Although the processor name remains undisclosed, the company appears confident about positioning the phone as a performance focused device for multitasking, streaming and casual gaming.

The launch is expected before the end of May 2026, though the company has not yet confirmed an official sale date or complete specifications sheet. Industry watchers believe Lava may reveal additional details in the coming days as the launch approaches.

The upcoming Shark 2 5G will continue the company’s recent push into the affordable smartphone segment. In 2025, Lava introduced the first Shark 5G model at a starting price of Rs 7999, offering a large display and entry level 5G performance. Later, the company expanded the lineup with the Shark 2 4G version featuring a 120Hz display and a 50MP camera.

With consumer demand rising for affordable 5G devices that also deliver premium style and dependable battery life, Lava seems ready to strengthen its position further in the Indian smartphone market. The Shark 2 5G could become an attractive option for users looking for balanced features without crossing the budget segment.
