US warns Iran over Strait of Hormuz disruption after Kharg Island strike

Tehran: The conflict in West Asia continues to intensify as Donald Trump announced that military bases located on Iran’s key oil export hub, Kharg Island, have been destroyed in a recent strike. The statement has further escalated tensions in the already volatile Iran–Israel conflict, which has now entered its second week.

According to Trump, the targeted strikes were aimed at weakening Iran’s military infrastructure positioned around the strategically important Kharg Island, which plays a crucial role in the country’s oil export operations. The development marks a significant escalation in the conflict as global markets closely monitor the situation due to its potential impact on oil supply.

Trump also issued a stern warning to Tehran regarding the security of international shipping routes. He said if Iran continues to disrupt the movement of ships through the critical Strait of Hormuz, the United States would consider launching further strikes targeting Iran’s oil infrastructure.

“Any continued interference with shipping in the Strait of Hormuz will force us to take decisive action against Iran’s energy facilities,” Trump reportedly said, indicating that Washington is prepared for further military escalation if tensions worsen.

Iran, however, has vowed retaliation for the strikes carried out by the United States and Israel. Iranian officials stated that their military will respond strongly to what they described as aggression against the country’s sovereignty.

The Iran–Israel war has been ongoing for nearly two weeks, with repeated missile and drone attacks reported across the region. Iran has intensified its strikes targeting Israeli positions and allied bases, while the United States and Israel have responded with coordinated airstrikes on Iranian military installations.

Meanwhile, Washington has announced plans to deploy additional troops and naval forces to the West Asian region, signaling that the conflict could continue to escalate further. Military analysts say the growing involvement of global powers risks widening the war beyond the immediate region.

The situation has also triggered a humanitarian crisis in neighboring Lebanon. Israel has launched a series of attacks against the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah, resulting in significant casualties and displacement.

Reports indicate that around 800 people have been killed in the fighting in Lebanon, while nearly 850,000 residents have been forced to flee their homes as the conflict spreads.

With tensions rising across multiple fronts, global leaders and international organizations have expressed concern that the conflict could destabilize energy markets and deepen the humanitarian crisis in the region.
