Israel has intensified attacks on Syrian airports to disrupt Tehran’s growing use of aerial supply routes to deliver weapons to allies in Syria and Lebanon, including Hezbollah, regional diplomatic and intelligence sources told Reuters.

After disrupting the transfer of weapons by land transport, Tehran has adopted air transport as a more reliable means of transporting military equipment to its forces and allied fighters in Syria.

Millions have been killed and millions more displaced since protests against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in 2011 drew in foreign powers and developed into a civil war that carved Syria into zones of control.
