Redmi Turbo 5 May Launch Soon in India With Powerful Battery and Dual Cameras

Redmi is reportedly preparing to launch the Turbo 5 smartphone in India with a high refresh rate display, massive battery, fast charging support and advanced camera features next month.

Popular smartphone brand Redmi is expected to expand its presence in India’s competitive mid range smartphone market with the upcoming Redmi Turbo 5. Reports suggest that the company may launch the device in the country on June 18 along with another smartphone, the Redmi 17 5G.

The Redmi Turbo series has already attracted attention in China earlier this year, and the Turbo 5 could become the first model from the lineup to officially enter the Indian market. Industry reports indicate that the Indian version may carry specifications similar to the Chinese variant that was introduced previously.

Ahead of the expected launch, Redmi has reportedly started promotional activities by teasing the smartphone online. Dedicated microsites for the device are also said to have appeared on Xiaomi’s official online store and e commerce platform Amazon, hinting that the launch announcement may not be far away.

One of the biggest highlights of the Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to be its display. The smartphone may feature a 6.59 inch 1.5K OLED screen with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel is also likely to support Dolby Vision and could offer peak brightness levels of up to 3500 nits for improved outdoor visibility and multimedia viewing experience.

In China, the Redmi Turbo 5 was introduced with the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor. The smartphone runs on Android 16 based Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and is designed to deliver smooth multitasking, gaming and media performance.

Photography enthusiasts may also find the upcoming smartphone appealing. The Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to feature a dual rear camera setup led by a 50 megapixel Sony IMX882 primary sensor. The rear camera system may also include an 8 megapixel ultra wide lens with support for 4K video recording at 60 frames per second. On the front, the device could offer a 20 megapixel selfie camera for video calls and social media photography.

Battery performance appears to be another major focus for the company. Reports suggest that the Redmi Turbo 5 could pack a massive 7560 mAh battery along with 100W fast charging support. The smartphone may also support 27W reverse charging, allowing users to charge compatible accessories and devices directly from the phone.

For security, the device is expected to include an ultrasonic in display fingerprint sensor. This feature is generally seen in premium smartphones and may help Redmi strengthen its appeal in the upper mid range segment.

Alongside the Turbo 5, Redmi may also unveil the Redmi 17 5G in India. The upcoming smartphone is rumored to feature an LCD display with a high refresh rate and a Snapdragon 4 series chipset. It may run on Android 16 based HyperOS 3 and could include a battery capacity exceeding 7000 mAh.

The Redmi 17 5G is also expected to offer a 50 megapixel primary rear camera and an 8 megapixel front camera for selfies and video calling. The device is likely to target users looking for long battery life and affordable 5G connectivity.

Over the last few years, Redmi has witnessed strong growth in India’s mid range smartphone category. Analysts believe the launch of the Redmi Turbo 5 could further intensify competition in the segment, especially among users seeking premium features at competitive prices.
