Mercedes CLA EV Launches in India With Over 700 km Range and Advanced Tech Features
Luxury carmaker expands its electric portfolio in India with new CLA EV offering long driving range fast charging premium cabin technology and strong safety features aimed at modern urban buyers

The Indian luxury electric vehicle market has received a major boost as Mercedes-Benz has officially launched its new Mercedes CLA EV. Positioned as a premium electric sedan, the model brings a combination of long range capability, modern design, and advanced in cabin technology, targeting buyers who are gradually shifting toward electric mobility.
One of the most striking aspects of the CLA EV is its driving range. Depending on the variant, the electric sedan is capable of delivering more than 700 kilometers on a single charge. The higher variant is reported to offer close to 792 kilometers, while the standard version delivers over 500 kilometers, making it one of the more efficient electric offerings in its segment.
Powering the vehicle is an 85 kWh battery pack paired with a rear mounted electric motor. The system generates around 268 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds. With support for 240 kW DC fast charging, the vehicle can regain approximately 400 kilometers of range in about 20 minutes, adding convenience for long distance travel.
The pricing strategy places the CLA EV firmly in the luxury segment, with different variants ranging from the mid 50 lakh rupee mark to around 64 lakh rupees for the launch edition. This positions it as a premium alternative for buyers looking to transition into electric mobility without compromising on performance or brand value.
Design wise, the vehicle follows a coupe inspired silhouette with a strong focus on aerodynamics. The front features a glossy black sealed grille with an illuminated three pointed star, giving it a distinct road presence. Slim LED headlamps connected by a light strip and a continuous rear light bar further enhance its modern appearance. The car also comes equipped with 18 inch alloy wheels, completing its sporty yet elegant look.
Inside the cabin, technology takes center stage. The dashboard is equipped with a 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster paired with a large 14 inch touchscreen infotainment system. The layout is designed to create a clean and connected driving experience, reflecting the brand’s shift toward digital first interiors.
Safety has also been given strong attention. The CLA EV includes six airbags, a 360 degree camera system, and an electronic parking brake. It also comes with Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, offering features that support safer driving in traffic and highway conditions. The model has already earned a 5 star safety rating in Euro NCAP crash tests, reinforcing its safety credentials.
The launch comes at a time when Mercedes is also expanding its global electric lineup, including updates to its EQ series. With improving battery technologies and increasing focus on range efficiency, the company continues to push its electric strategy forward in both global and Indian markets.
With the CLA EV, Mercedes is clearly aiming to strengthen its position in India’s growing luxury EV space. As more buyers consider electric alternatives in the premium segment, models like this are expected to play a key role in shaping future demand.
