Instagram Changes Profile Grid With Tagged Posts Feature

Instagram has changed how tagged posts appear on profiles, allowing users to add selected tagged photos and videos directly to their main profile grid alongside their own content more easily.

Instagram has introduced a profile management change that gives users more control over how their pages look. The platform is now allowing selected posts in which users are tagged to appear directly on their main profile grid.

Until now, Instagram generally kept content uploaded by the account owner separate from posts created by other people. Tagged photographs and videos were mainly available through a dedicated tagged section on the profile. The new option gives users more flexibility, particularly when they are featured in group photographs, collaborative content or posts created together with other accounts.

The change could be useful for people who want their profile to show important moments without having to upload the same content themselves. For example, a group photograph shared by a friend or a collaboration published by another creator can now be added to the main profile layout when the tagged user chooses to feature it.

Instagram has also provided several ways to add this content. One option is available through the notification received when another account tags the user in a post. From the tag notification, users can select the relevant option to place the post on their main profile.

Another method can be accessed directly from the tagged post. Users can open the three dot menu associated with a post where they have been tagged and select the option to add that content to their main profile grid.

There is also an option available from the existing tagged section of the profile. Users can press and hold a preferred tagged post and choose to include it in the main grid. This gives users different ways to manage the content depending on where they are accessing it.

Once a tagged post is added, Instagram places it within the main profile grid according to the platforms standard ordering system. The position is connected to the original publishing date of the post. Users who have customized their profile grid can continue managing the overall arrangement according to the options available on their account.

The update does not mean that the tagged post becomes the property of the person who adds it to their profile. The original creator continues to control the original post. Adding it to the main grid simply allows the tagged user to feature that content as part of their profile presentation.

Users also have the option to change their minds later. A tagged post can be removed from the main profile grid without deleting the original post. The content also remains available in the users separate tagged section, meaning removing it from the main grid does not erase the underlying tagged media.

The feature gives Instagram users another way to personalize their profiles without depending entirely on content they have uploaded themselves. It may be particularly useful for creators, friends, families and users who frequently appear in posts shared by other accounts.

Instagram has been gradually adding more controls around profile presentation and content management. The latest change follows that direction by making tagged content more visible while still leaving the decision with the person who appears in the post.

For regular users, the biggest difference is simple. A tagged photograph no longer has to remain hidden inside a separate profile section if the user wants it to be part of the main profile experience. With a few taps, selected tagged content can now become part of the overall grid while the original post stays with its creator.

Instagram users therefore have greater flexibility over the appearance of their profiles, especially when their online presence includes photographs and collaborations posted by friends, creators or other accounts.
