Honor May Push Smartphone Battery Limits With Massive 11000mAh Cell in Development
Chinese smartphone maker Honor is reportedly testing a next generation 11000mAh battery for upcoming devices, signaling a strong shift toward ultra long lasting phones with extended gaming and multimedia usage capabilities
Honor appears to be preparing its next big leap in battery technology, with reports suggesting that the company has begun trial production of a new high capacity battery rated at 10690mAh. The typical capacity is expected to reach around 11000mAh, making it one of the largest batteries ever planned for a mainstream smartphone.
According to industry leaks shared on social media platform Weibo, the information comes from well known tipster Digital Chat Station. While the exact device has not been confirmed, early speculation suggests it could belong to the Honor Power series, which is already known for focusing heavily on battery performance.
The move aligns with Honor’s recent strategy of prioritizing long battery life in its smartphones. Earlier this year, the company launched the Honor Power 2, which already featured a massive 10080mAh battery. That device was designed for heavy usage and offered impressive endurance for gaming, navigation and media consumption throughout the day.
The Honor Power 2 also supported 80W wired fast charging and 27W reverse wired charging, allowing users to quickly refill the battery or even charge other devices. In real world usage claims, the phone delivered more than 14 hours of gaming and over 17 hours of navigation on a single charge, highlighting the brand’s focus on endurance driven performance.
Under the hood, the Power 2 runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Elite chipset paired with a Mali G720 MC8 GPU. It also features a 6.79 inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, enhanced PWM dimming and low blue light technology. The device operates on Android 16 based MagicOS 10, offering a modern software experience alongside its hardware capabilities.
Honor’s broader ecosystem also includes devices in its Win series, which already supports 10000mAh batteries with 100W fast charging. These phones are designed to deliver extended entertainment sessions, including over 16 hours of gaming and more than 31 hours of video streaming, showing how battery innovation is becoming a core brand identity.
The competition in this space is also heating up across the industry. Devices like the OnePlus Nord 6 reportedly feature 9000mAh batteries, while the Realme P4 Power 5G launched earlier with a 10001mAh battery supporting 80W fast charging and reverse charging features. These trends indicate a broader shift among smartphone makers toward larger battery capacities.
If Honor brings the 11000mAh battery to market, it could set a new benchmark for smartphone endurance, especially for users who rely heavily on mobile devices for gaming, streaming and productivity without frequent charging interruptions.
