Android 17 Turns Troublemaker for Pixel Users as Bugs Disrupt Daily Experience
Google Pixel users report touchscreen glitches, unstable 5G, and app failures after Android 17 update, raising concerns over performance issues while Google acknowledges problems and prepares corrective fixes

What was expected to be a smooth upgrade has instead turned into a frustrating experience for many Google Pixel users. The newly rolled out Android 17 update, launched in June 2026, is now facing criticism after several users reported unexpected technical issues affecting everyday phone usage.
Shortly after installation, complaints began surfacing across Reddit, X, and other online forums. Users say their devices are experiencing unresponsive touchscreens, erratic gestures, and unstable connectivity. In some cases, simple actions like tapping or swiping no longer work consistently, while others report a strange issue where swipe directions appear reversed, making navigation confusing and unreliable.
Interestingly, the issue does not appear limited to a single model. Reports suggest that the Pixel 10 series along with Pixel 9, Pixel 8, and Pixel 7 devices are all affected to varying degrees. Even though older Pixel 6 models seem less impacted, the widespread nature of the bug points more toward a software level issue rather than hardware failure.
Along with touchscreen problems, connectivity disruptions have added to user frustration. Many Pixel owners, especially those using Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, and select 6a devices, have reported sudden loss of 5G connectivity after the update. In several cases, phones are falling back to LTE networks or losing signal entirely. Some users have also noticed missing eSIM profiles after restarting their devices.
The problems do not end there. A number of users have also highlighted that key Google applications such as Gmail, YouTube, Google Photos, Google Keep, and the Play Store are either loading slowly or failing to function properly when connected to WiFi. This has made routine smartphone usage even more inconvenient for affected users.
While Google has officially acknowledged the situation, a permanent fix has not yet been released. However, the company’s history of addressing Pixel related software bugs through monthly updates suggests that a resolution may arrive soon. For now, users are left waiting for an official patch that restores stability.
Some temporary relief has been reported by users who toggled the “Smooth Display” setting off and on again, though this is not a guaranteed fix. Community moderators have also suggested a reset option that may help restore connectivity. The recommended step involves going to system settings, selecting reset options, and then resetting mobile network settings. This process clears WiFi, Bluetooth, and mobile data configurations, requiring users to set them up again. In several cases, this method has helped restore lost 5G connectivity.
Experts advise users facing these issues to report them directly through the built in feedback tool in Pixel settings or via the official Pixel community forums. Increased user reports often help Google prioritize fixes in upcoming patches.
As Android 17 continues its rollout, what was meant to be a next generation upgrade is currently serving as a reminder that even major software releases can sometimes arrive with unexpected instability, leaving users hoping for a quick and reliable fix from Google.
