Sabarimala Makara Jyothi 2023: Thousands of Ayyappa devotees witness Makara Jyothi

More than three and a half lakh devotees have gathered at the Sabarimala Ayyappan temple today for Makar Jyoti darshan.Today, in conjunction with Makara Lampu Pooja, the walk opens at 3 am and devotees are allowed to have darshan from 3.30 am. More than 3 lakh to 50 thousand people have gathered at the temple shrine to see Makara Jyoti darshan.Sabarimala Makara Jyothi 2023: Thousands of Ayyappa devotees had darshana of Makara Jyothi.

Even though Jyoti can be seen at 9 places including Bampai and Pulmedu, the majority of the devotees prefer to see it from the Jayappan shrine itself, so the crowd swells. At around 5.30 pm, a special pooja will be performed for Ayyappan with tiruvaparanas and battle gear. Subsequently, Sami Ayyappan Jyoti will be displayed at Ponnambala hill opposite the temple shrine around 6 pm.

As lakhs of devotees gather at Sabarimala for Jyoti Darshan, food is distributed by Akila Bharat Ayyappa Seva Sangam. Also, cleanliness work from Pampa to Sabarimala is also carried out by this association.Thousands of Ayyappa devotees will witness ‘Makaravilakku’ at Sabarimala temple on Saturday. The deeparadhana will be held between 6.30 pm and 6.40 pm.

The Makarasamkrama Pooja will take place at 8.45 pm. Around 1.5 lakh devotees are expected to take part in the ceremony and witness makara jyothi, the holy light.According to the police, only 40,000 people will be permitted in the Sannidhanam.On the day of Makarasamkramana, an annual festival that falls on Makar Sankranti day, it is believed that Lord Ayyappa asserts himself as a holy light in the sky to bless his devotees.
