Ration Card Update date will not extend more: govt Implement new order

Karnataka government has allowed Ration Card Updates for the reason that the people should get the benefit of the Government Schemes. But the government’s deadline has already passed and there is no chance for ration card update/ correction.

Ration card is an important document to get government benefits including Gruha Lakshmi, Gruha Jyothi, Anna Bhagya Scheme. Due to loopholes in the ration card, the government had provided benefits to the families in Karnataka who were not getting government benefits.

The ration card was allowed to be update/ correction from September 1 to 10. But due to pressure from the people, the period was extended till September 14. Now the period given by the government has expired. The ration card was newly allowed for many types of corrections including registration of name of family members, removal of name, correction of member’s name, address.

More than two lakh people had amended their ration card during the period given by the government. But many still have not got their ration cards update/ correction. Such people are not allowed to amend their ration card as of now. Even this time most of them could not amend the ration card due to the server problem.

So people are urging the government to give another chance. In most parts of the rural and urban areas, the issue of ration card update/ correction was common. Some people begged for ration card correction for three or four days to no avail.

Without amending the ration card, it will not be possible to get free rice under the Anna bhagya Yojana, Rs 2000 from the Gruha Lakhmi Yojana announced by the state government. The opportunity given by the government to amend the ration card is completely over.

But as of now, there are no signs that the government will extend the period. But a large number of people are yet to be added to the Gruha Lakhmi Yojana. Crores of women have registered their names for the Gruha Lakhmi Yojana. But such families will get Rs 2000 per month only if the owner of the house is a woman in the ration card.

But in the cards in most families the master of the house is the man. Therefore, the money of Gruha Lakshmi Yojana was not deposited in the bank account of such applicants. For this reason, the government had given an opportunity to update/ correction the ration card.
