LSG owner Sanjiv lost his cool on KL Rahul and scolded him after the match against SRH. Public argument with India’s star batters has shocked everyone, including former players. Some report says that KL Rahul is likely to step down as captain for the remainder of the 17th season (IPL 2024).

Also, the franchise will not retain him for IPL 2025. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) scored 165/4 in 20 overs on a flat pitch. Chasing a target of 166 runs, Travis Head (89) and Abhishek Sharma (75) completed the task in just 9.4 overs.

According to some report KL Rahul, who was auctioned for a record Rs 17 crore, will be released in 2022. There is speculation that the skipper may leave the captain’s armband on his own to focus on his batting. The next match against Delhi is five days away. No decision has been taken regarding KL Rahul’s captaincy but if he decides to quit the role, the management is fine.

Notably, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was the owner of Rising Pune Supergiants when MS Dhoni was removed from the captaincy and Steve Smith took over the captaincy in his second season. LSG have 12 points from 12 matches and need to beat Delhi Capital and Mumbai Indians to qualify for the playoffs. Nicholas Pooran will lead Lucknow if KL Rahul steps down.
