GST applicable PG Hostel: Rent Hike in Bengaluru

Henceforth, the monthly rent of hostels and PGs in the state capital Bengaluru will increase further. GST will be applicable for private hostel, PG rentals. GST applicable PG Hostel: Rent Hike in Bengaluru. Hostels, PGs are not comparable to residential buildings and are not tax exempt.

So GST Advance Rulings (AR) have been fixed GST for all PGs and Hostels and the rent will be more expensive. This will further burden the students and those in small jobs.

The Authority for Advance Rulings, hearing about the request to grant GST exemption to hostels and PGs, clarified that it is not possible to grant GST exemption to hostels and PG. It also said that 12% GST will be applicable.

Henceforth, 12% GST tax will be applicable on the monthly rent of registered PGs and hostels. PG, hostel rent has already been increased due to increase in prices of essentials and vegetables. The burden of GST will also fall from now on.
