With limited time to host the tournament, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may need to shorten its duration and even consider relocating matches outside India. The world’s richest league, which was held earlier in April-May, will start in March this time. The main reason for this is the upcoming T20 World Cup.

The 2024 T20 World Cup will start from June 4 and the BCCI is facing the necessity of ending the tournament before that. Therefore, there is a high possibility that IPL season 17 will start in the first or second week of March. According to the current information, the upcoming Indian Premier League will start from March 12.

It is also known that the final match will be held on May 12. That means BCCI has made a plan to finish the IPL tournament three weeks before the start of the T20 World Cup. Therefore, it is almost certain that IPL season-17 will happen during this period. General elections will also be held in India in 2024 itself. Therefore, BCCI is thinking of organizing the tournament abroad this time.

Because, IPL was organized abroad due to Lok Sabha elections on 2009 and 2014. While the tournament was held in South Africa in 2009, some matches were played in UAE in 2014. Now again, if the election date is announced on the occasion of IPL, it can be said that the tournament will be held abroad. In the background of the upcoming T20 World Cup, it will be necessary to finish the IPL in a short period of time.

Because most of the players of the national teams will return to their countries a week or two before the start of the T20 World Cup. Therefore, BCCI will make a plan to prevent star players from leaving IPL midway. For this, more matches will be organized in a shorter period of time. That means the IPL can end early with more double header matches.
