FIR registered against RSS leader for provocative speech at Deepotsava

Mangaluru : A case has been registered at Puttur Rural Police Station against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and the organizers of a recent Deepotsava event in Uppalige, Puttur, following allegations of delivering a speech that incited religious hatred and undermined women’s dignity.
The complaint, filed by women’s rights activist Eeshwari Padmunj, claims that Bhat’s speech, broadcast on a YouTube channel, contained derogatory remarks about Hindu and Muslim communities, incited communal tensions, and referenced voter populations to stir religious animosity.
Police sources said the FIR has been filed under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code: Section 79 (causing insult to women’s dignity), Section 196 (promoting enmity between groups), Section 299 (deliberate religious provocation), Section 302 (offense against religious sentiments), and Section 3(5) (acts with a common intent), against both Prabhakar Bhat and the event organizers.
Authorities have confirmed that the case is under active investigation, with scrutiny of the online broadcast and other evidence underway to determine the extent of the alleged violations.
The FIR highlights growing concerns over speeches and activities that potentially disturb communal harmony in the region, and authorities have emphasized that such actions will be dealt with firmly under the law.
