World Cup hero, MP Gautam Gambhir will play for India again

MP Gautam Gambhir, one of India’s World Cup heroes, is all set to bat again for India. 41-year-old Gautam Gambhir, who retired from cricket in 2016, will appear again on the cricket field. Gautam Gambhir is not going to play for Team India, but for India Maharajas in the Legends League Cricket Tournament (Legends League Cricket – LLC).

The 2nd edition of the Legends League tournament will begin on September 17, and many of India’s greatest players will be playing. Before this, on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day, an exhibition match between India Maharajas and World XI teams will be held at the Eden Gardens ground in Kolkata on September 15.

Gautam Gambhir was instrumental in India’s two World Cup wins. Gambhir’s 75 against Pakistan in the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup Final played an important role in India winning the World Cup. Gambhir, who also shone in the 2011 ICC ODI World Cup Final match, played a crucial role in India lifting the World Cup after 28 years, when he scored 97 runs against Sri Lanka.

Gambhir, who played the last international match for India in 2016, started his political innings after retirement. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Gambhir, who contested as a BJP candidate from the East Delhi constituency, won a landslide victory against the Congress candidate by 3,91,222 votes and achieved success in his first step into politics.

Gambhir, who has been away from the cricket field for the last 6 years, is the mentor of the Lucknow Supergiants team in the IPL tournament. Now Gambhir will return to the cricket field through the Legends Cricket League. Gautam Gambhir, who has played 58 Test matches for India, has scored 4,154 runs with 9 centuries, 5,238 runs with 11 centuries from 147 ODI matches and 932 runs with 7 fifties from 37 T20 matches.
