RuPay Prime Volleyball League: Bengaluru Torpedoes beat Calicut Heroes

Bengaluru Torpedoes emerged victorious against Calicut Heroes with a score of 3-2 in a thrilling match at the Regional Sports Centre in Kochi on Tuesday, keeping their hopes of reaching the semifinals alive in the second season of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League powered by A23. Despite the loss, the Heroes have secured a spot in the semifinals. The Torpedoes’ chances of qualifying for the semifinals now hinge on the final match between Mumbai Meteors and Kochi Bule Spikers, where Mumbai needs to win 5-0 to qualify. In a highly competitive game, the first set belonged to Iranian import Alireza Abalooch, who led the Torpedoes to a 15-11 victory.

The second set was equally intense, with the Torpedoes winning 15-11, thanks to an outstanding performance by Ibin Jose, who was declared the Player of the Match. The Heroes bounced back in the third and fourth sets, winning 15-13 and 15-10, respectively, to level the scores at 2-2. The final set was closely contested, with the Torpedoes leading 13-9 at one point.

However, the Heroes fought back and levelled the score at 14-14 before the Torpedoes clinched victory with a score of 15-14. The match was filled with memorable moments, and the fans were treated to a spectacular display of volleyball by both teams. The Torpedoes can now only hope for a Mumbai Meteors wins against Kochi Bule Spikers to reach the semifinals.
