Ravichandran Ashwin created history: Pick father and son wicket in Test Cricket

Ravichandran Ashwin, the World’s No 1 Test bowler, put the disappointment of being dropped from the World Test Championship final with a 33rd five-wicket haul in the first Test against the West Indies in Roseau, Dominica, on Wednesday. Ravichandran Ashwin created history: Pick father and son wicket in Test Cricket.

Team India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin created history when he dismissed Tagenarine Chanderpaul in the first innings of the opening Test. He became the first Indian bowler to dismiss the father-son duo in the game’s longest format. Ravichandran Ashwin had also taken the wicket of Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who is the father of the West Indies current opening batter, Tagenarine.

Ashwin beautifully set up the southpaw. He failed to read the line and length of a ball that came in and was bowled. Earlier, Kraigg Brathwaite won the toss and elected to bat first against the visiting team. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan were given their debut caps.

The 36-year-old also became the third Indian to reach the 700-wicket milestone in international cricket and is only behind Harbhajan Singh (711 wickets) and Anil Kumble (956) in the all-time list. After the close of play on day one, the wily off-spinner, who also thinks deeply about the game, was asked about his long journey in international cricket and the ups and downs along the way, including the recent exclusion from the WTC final against Australia.
