Kannadiga Mayank Agarwal out from Punjab Kings; will join RCB for IPL 2023

Preparations for IPL 16th (IPL 2023) edition have already started. Especially since November 15 is the last day for franchises to trade, all the teams are preparing the list of Retained and release players. Kannadiga Mayank Agarwal out from Punjab Kings; will join RCB for IPL 2023.

As part of this, even Punjab Kings, who have not won a single IPL title so far, have taken some surprising decisions before the start of the tournament. The franchise, which had earlier sacked head coach Anil Kumble, later dropped skipper Mayank Agarwal from the captaincy.

Now the management has taken a step forward and has reportedly included the name of Kannadiga Mayank Agarwal in the list of players it has released ahead of the mini auction. In 8 editions, the Punjab team could not reach the playoffs. Under the leadership of Anil Kumble, who had been leading the team for three years, the team was content with the 6th position.

Therefore, the owner and management, who are facing a major change in the team, have decided to drop some players who were bought at an expensive price last time in order to increase the size of the team’s purse before the mini auction and for the purchase of all-rounders needed by the team.

Thus, Punjab Kings are keeping an eye on two of these three all-rounders. For that, they are reportedly set to drop their last year’s captain Mayank Agarwal (12 crores), Tamil Nadu batsman Shah Rukh Khan (9 crores) and West Indies all-rounder Odion Smith (6 crores) from the squad to increase their purse size.

This year 5 crore increment is being given to all 10 franchisees in this auction. Along with this, Kings will increase their purse size by more than 30 crores by releasing these three before the auction. Kannadiga Mayank Agarwal, who captained the team in the 2022 edition, could manage just 196 runs at a poor average of 16.33 and a strike rate of 122.50 in the 13 matches he played.
