Gautam Gambhir suggested batting order to Virat Kohli

Former Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir has expressed the opinion that Virat Kohli should play in the third batting order in the Indian T20 team. The former cricketer said that KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma should start the innings. Gautam Gambhir suggested batting order to Virat Kohli.

In the recently finished  Asia Cup tournament 2022, Virat Kohli scored a total of 276 runs including a century and two fifties. By that, he predicted that after three years he had found the best rhythm. Despite this, the Indian team was out of the tournament at the Super-4 stage itself. Gautam Gambhir suggested batting order to Virat Kohli.

He rested for six weeks before coming to the Asia Cup tour. By that, Audi was successful in the Asia Cup tournament as a freshman. Virat Kohli scored his first century in international T20 cricket in the last match of the Super-4 stage against Afghanistan.

In this match, Virat Kohli, who started the innings along with KL Rahul, scored an unbeaten 122 runs in just 61 balls. Accordingly, the Indian team got a great victory in this match. Despite this, India failed to qualify for the finals as they lost their opening two matches.

There has been a lot of discussion about Kohli’s batting order for the past few days. Virat Kohli has been very successful as an opener in T20 cricket. In this background, many former players expressed the opinion that he should continue to open the innings in the T20 team. However, Gautam Gambhir has opposed this. Virat Kohli has said that he should play in the third order as usual.

“Don’t play Kohli as an opener and do a headless job. Virat Kohli cannot open the innings with KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma. I have said this before. Kohli is very comfortable playing at number three.

If the opening batsmen bat till 10 overs, I want to play Suryakumar Yadav at number three. If the openers surrender wickets early, only then should Virat Kohli play at number three,” Gautam Gambhir told Star Sports Game Plan.

Speaking at the same time, former Australia opener Matthew Hayden also said the same thing. “I want Virat Kohli to play at number three. He can manipulate the strike rate; his run is also exceptional. He can be challenging for the spinners. But, for a fast bowler, he is a fantastic batsman. I think India’s top four order is closed,” he said.
