India’s athletes delivered a sensational performance in boxing and wrestling at the Asian Games, winning multiple gold medals and sparking celebrations across the country. Dominating both the boxing ring and the wrestling mat, the Indian contingent further strengthened the nation’s position in the medals tally with a series of outstanding performances.

On the 13th day of the Asian Games, India’s gold medal haul continued as Sujeet Kalkal produced one of the most dramatic comebacks of the tournament to win the men’s 65kg freestyle wrestling title. In the final, Sujeet defeated Abdulmajid Kudiev of Tajikistan by a thrilling 10-9 margin. Remarkably, he was trailing 2-9 at one stage before scripting an incredible turnaround in the closing moments of the bout.

After the opening period, Sujeet trailed 2-4, and his Tajik opponent extended the lead further in the second period, making it 9-2. With the match seemingly slipping away, Sujeet refused to give up. Displaying extraordinary determination, he launched a fierce comeback in the final two minutes. He executed four successful takedowns, earning two points from each to narrow the deficit to 9-8, setting up a dramatic finish.

Dramatic Final 10 Seconds Seal Gold:

With just seconds remaining, Kudiev still held a one-point advantage, leaving Sujeet in desperate need of a decisive move. Rising to the occasion, the Indian wrestler produced another perfectly timed takedown in the final 10 seconds, earning two crucial points and taking the score to 10-9.

From trailing 9-2 to securing a stunning 10-9 victory, Sujeet completed one of the most memorable comebacks of the Asian Games, adding another gold medal to India’s impressive campaign.
