Samsung has expanded its premium tablet lineup with the global launch of the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+. Both models are designed for users looking for large screens, powerful hardware and long battery life, with the Ultra model offering the higher specifications.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra starts at GBP 1399, which is approximately Rs 178194, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ carries a starting price of GBP 1199, equivalent to around Rs 152711. The tablets will go on sale from October 7 and will be offered in grey and silver colour options.

At the top of the range, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra features a 14.6 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. The screen has a resolution of 1848 by 2960 pixels and supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy Tab S12+ is slightly smaller, featuring a 12.6 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 1752 by 2800 pixel resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

Both tablets are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. Samsung has paired the processor with different memory and storage configurations depending on the model. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra gets up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ comes with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The Galaxy Tab S12+ also supports microSD expansion of up to 2TB, giving users more room for large files, videos and other content. This could be useful for people who intend to use the tablet for entertainment as well as work related tasks.

Software is another major part of the new tablets. Both models run on Android 17 with Samsung One UI 9. Samsung has promised seven generations of operating system upgrades along with security updates, giving the tablets a longer software support cycle.

The camera hardware differs slightly between the two models. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has a 13MP primary rear camera accompanied by an 8MP ultra wide camera. For selfies and video calls, it gets a 12MP ultra wide front camera.

The Galaxy Tab S12+ also features a 13MP main rear camera. Samsung has included a 12MP ultra wide front camera for video calls and selfies. The camera setup is clearly aimed at everyday photography and communication rather than replacing a dedicated camera.

Battery capacity is one of the biggest differences between the two tablets. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra packs an 11600mAh battery, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ gets a 10600mAh unit. Both support 45W fast charging, giving the large screen devices additional support for extended usage.

Samsung has also focused on durability. Both tablets carry an IP68 rating for protection against dust and water. A fingerprint sensor is included for device security, while connectivity options vary between the two models.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra supports 5G, WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. The Galaxy Tab S12+ comes with 5G, WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 6.0. The Ultra model measures 208.5mm in length, 326.3mm in width and 5.1mm in thickness, with a weight of 695 grams.

The Galaxy Tab S12+ measures 187.8mm long, 289.5mm wide and 5.3mm thick. It weighs 555 grams, making it noticeably lighter than the larger Ultra model.

With large AMOLED displays, the Dimensity 9500 chipset, substantial batteries and long term software support, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ are positioned as Samsung premium tablets for demanding users.
