YSV Dutta announced retirement from electoral Politics

YSV Dutta joined the Congress party before the assembly elections, and at the last moment, as the ticket was lost, he entered the fray from the JDS party as a candidate for the Kadur constituency.  Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 defeat YSV Dutta announced retirement from electoral Politics.

But the voters did not hold him by the hand. After losing the election, he has now announced his retirement from electoral politics. Former legislator and JD(S) leader Y.S.V. Datta, who was defeated in Kadur Aassembly constituency, has decided to take out ‘Prayaschitta Padayatra’ (a march of repentance) commencing on June 24, on his 70th birthday.

In an appeal to voters in the constituency on Tuesday, Mr. Datta said he had been with the people of Kadur for the last 17 years and was ever indebted to the love and support they extended to him. “Though I have decided to quit electoral politics, there is no question of distancing myself from active politics. I will remain with you till my last breath”, he wrote

YSV Datta, once a close aide of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowd, quit the JD(S) in January after Congress reportedly promised him of ticket from Kadur. According to party sources, internal differences with Deve Gowda’s family forced him to quit JD(S).

Datta was hoping to contest from Congress but the party announced the ticket to KS Anand. Upset with denial of the ticket, Datta after a meeting with his supporters declared that he would contest as an independent candidate. Finally he contest from JDS and loose in election.
