Former Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao to join AAP tomorrow

The Karnataka government has accepted Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Bhaskar Rao’s resignation on Friday. In recent development some media report says that Former Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao to join AAP tomorrow.

Some media reported that Former Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao is all set to join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday. Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal will also attend the event. Former Bengaluru Police Commissioner Rao, an IPS officer from the 1990 batch.

Has served as the chief police commissioner of Bengaluru from 2019 to 2020, and was currently serving as the ADGP for Railways. Rao was previously ADGP in the Karnataka State Reserve Police as well as ADGP of the Internal security Division. Rao was awarded the “Police medal for meritorious service” on Indian Independence Day in 2008.

Bhaskar Rao had handed in a voluntary retirement notice based on personal grounds to IAS officer P Ravi Kumar, also the Karnataka Chief Secretary, in September last year. Some report says that Bhaskar Rao will be the first candidate that the AAP will induct ahead of the 2023 assembly elections in Karnataka. He is most likely to contest from the Basavanagudi seat in Bangalore.

Bhaskar Rao will also serve as the Brahmin face of the party. His presence in the AAP will build inroads for the party as he is a local resident from Bengaluru. He has also worked in the city as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and as the police commissioner. Bhaskar Rao’s resignation was accepted recently by the government.
