Woman dies after being pushed from train by TTE over ticket dispute
Lucknow: In a shocking incident in Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh, a naval officer’s wife, identified as Arati Yadav, died after being allegedly pushed from a moving train by a traveling ticket examiner (TTE) during a heated dispute over her ticket.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night aboard the Patna–Anand Vihar Express, where Arati was traveling for medical treatment. She had booked her ticket on a different train but boarded this train amid the rush, according to sources.
The TTE, identified as Santosh Kumar, reportedly first threw Arati’s purse out of the train before pushing her off. Her body was later discovered near the Bharthana railway station on Wednesday, while her purse was found a few kilometers away. Arati’s mobile phone is still missing, sources added.
Initial reports treated the case as an accident, but railway police investigation confirmed it to be a deliberate act. Her husband, who works in Mumbai, had not been traveling with her at the time.
A murder case has been registered against the TTE at the Etawah Railway Police Station. Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
This incident has sparked outrage, raising questions about passenger safety and conduct of railway staff during ticket checks. The railway administration has promised strict action based on the investigation’s findings.
